There ar every few people who have not heard of 'the church', yet nearly everyone seems to have a different idea about what it is.  Most people appear to think that the church is a building or denomination, and many believers assume that it is a series of meetings or services.  Even those of us who know that 'the church' is 'the people' and have heard about the 'body of Christ', often have different ideas about how the church should be organised  and what it should do.

If the church is important to God, we ought to try to understand the basic scriptural principles about the church.  Then at least we are able to distinguish what are matters of culture or taste and what are matters of doctrine.

By studying this topic, you will know God's vision and purpose is to reveal his glory in the church by Christ Jesus; he is going to reveal his glory in the church so that all the nations of the world will come to the light.  You will know how to work in partnership with him to bring this about in your area of influence.
